Putt-putt

Sometimes I forget that I used to be very competitive. I always enjoyed the rush of adrenaline. As an adult I've lost a lot of that competitive spirit. Today we took the boys putt-putting. They love to play "golf", and everyone knows how much Reuben loves to golf. It seems that every time we play putt-putt, I'm able to win or score close to him. Today was no different. I was leading by two stokes after nine holes. Now I did have the advantage of going second and watching Reuben hit the ball. So the back nine or so I went first. Reuben was able to get two strokes on me. We ended the match with a tie. It was fun to tease each other and feel that competitive nature come back. I love Reuben so much. I love to spend time with him. He is my best friend. I look forward to the days when the boys are old enough for us to make a foursome and play the game of golf. But for now I will enjoy making Reuben frustrated while playing putt-putt. ;)

Movie Night

The only time the boys can sit this close is when they're watching TV. Tonight they are watching the movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians. And enjoying a big bowl of popcorn.

Early Birthday Present

Thanks Grandma Baur for my birthday card. Logan and I went shopping today. I really needed a new pair of tennis shoes. I wanted to try a couple of different brands outside of my comfort zone. I've always worn Nikes. I'm at a point where I don't even have to try them on. I know my size and they always fit. But today I was feeling adventurous. I tried on a few different shoes and they just didn't feel right. (A couple of weeks ago, I tried on shoes and didn't have any luck.) So I found a pair of Nikes that I thought were cute and told the sales clerk to grab those for me. And of course they fit like a clove. I guess I'm a Nike girl for life.

My Family

I was thinking of words that describes each person in my family. So here is the list I came up with.

Reuben
passionate
full of love for his family
the funniest person I know
outgoing
a great speaker

Evan
observent
caring
loves nature
active

Logan
unmoveable
funny
social
loving

I'm sure I will add to these lists. I love my family with all my heart. There are so many reasons why I love them.

Everyone is back in school!

Today was Logan's first full afternoon of preschool. Now that both kids are back in school, it's time for me to get busy. I need to go to the gym, organize areas of the house and all the other daily activities that I can get down in the afternoon without having to break up fights and bickering between the boys. I would love to go to the gym MWF but there are other things I need to do during this short time as well. I really don't have a lot of time while Logan is at school. By the time I get home from dropping him off it's 12:50. Then I have to leave to pick him up around 2:40. So I have a total of 1 hour and 50 minutes. So I have to use my time wisely. This week I am focusing on the house. I want to deep clean before going into winter. Next week I'm going to start getting back into the gym. I sure hope I can fit back into my pants when the weather gets cooler. :)

It's time to turn on the music and get busy!

Heinz Family Reunion

Saturday, September 4th we went to the farm for the Heinz family reunion. We were very excited for this special reunion because we had a distant relative from Germany attending. Rudi and his family came to travel the United States. They first went to California, then here for the reunion and last New York City. We enjoyed visiting with family and of course fishing. One of the funniest things was waiting for Laney's front tooth to fall out. And eventually it did.

Evan's First Day of First Grade

Evan's first day of school was my second day of work. So my dad was there to put Evan on the bus. Then in the afternoon I waited and waited for him to come home. My mom even had time to get to our house after work to see Evan get off the bus. The bus was over an hour late. When the bus stopped to let him off he didn't get up right away. The driver said he must have fallen asleep. Sure enough he had fallen asleep. He looked so tired coming home that afternoon. It has definitely been an adjustment for Evan to be in school all day. He has been so tired and crashes at bed time.
