Camping in the family room

Reuben went camping with the scouts. The boys wanted to go camping too. So I decided to let them "camp" in the family room. We even made smores in the microwave.

Preschool graduation

Logan celebrated his last day of preschool today. The children sang their favorite songs. They were so cute doing all the hand motions to the songs. Then the teacher called each student up to get their certificate of one year of preschool completed. Once the program was over Logan was out of there. I found him out in the hall ready to go. He had a great year in school and learned a lot. Next year he will go to preschool 3 days a week.

End of Kindergarten

Autism Speaks

My niece's kindergarten friend is autistic. Laney is the ultimate mother hen. She just loves Will. My sister thought it would be nice to support his family in the walk for Autism. The event was great. Will's mom was so grateful for the support.

It took a little while to get everything started but once the walk started the kids settled into a groove. I should have brought a stroller. I ended up carrying Logan a majority of the way. When the walk was finished Coney Island opened the rides for free. This was the first time Logan road a real roller coaster. He was all smilies until we went down the first hill. Then he grit his teeth and made a funny sound the rest of the ride. After we got off the ride he said it was fun. The kids road a few rides and then it was time to head out and get lunch.

A river runs through it

We had a bad storm this week. Whenever we get heavy rains the water rushes down from the golf course into our yards. Our neighbor across the circle really gets hit hard. The asphalt at the end of his drive way was actually being lifted by the water. The boys just couldn't help themselves. As soon as the rain let up the boys jumped right in.

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

I found the empty bowl of Busken cookies in the three season room. Reuben and I were outside talking to our neighbor and the boys were playing with their friend S. Every once in a while I noticed the boys were out of sight. But that isn't unusual. Sometimes they go around the side of the house and play under the big blue spruce tree. When it was time to go in and eat dinner I told the boys to go in and wash up. I went to the kitchen and noticed that back sliding door was open. When I went to close it I noticed all the crumbs on the ground and the cookie bowl.

The boys told me that they came in to get a drink and decided they would invite their friend in to eat the cookies they found.
( I bought the cookies to take into work.) The three of them ate all of the cookies. Then came back outside just like nothing ever happened.

Mother's Day 2010

I was so excited to see the crafts Evan and Logan made me. Evan made the pin with a green stone in it. He remembered that green is my favorite color. Logan made the ladybug. The picture on the ladybug is his preschool picture that just melts my heart. Reuben took the boys shopping and bought me the purple T-shirt from my favorite store. I know I am loved.

Papa and his boys

Evan told papa to come over to the house because he missed him so much. When he got here the boys told him that their four wheeler wasn't working. The boys love to watch papa work on things. Papa was able to get it back up and running. They've been riding it every day since then.

Climb Time

Lindsey invited us to go rock climbing this weekend. The boys were really excited when they found out we were planning to go.
I knew they would really enjoy climbing around. When we arrived we had to first take a belay class. We learned how to tie off the climber and clip ourselves in. Then we practiced pulling the rope to keep it taught while the climber moved up the wall. I was paired with Logan and he started up the wall. When he got half way he began to get nervous. The guy who was instructing us climbed up with him to encourage and show him where to step next. He eventually made it to the top and was done. Once he was back on the ground all he wanted was a tootsie roll pop from the counter. Evan did really well. Reuben was paired with him. He climbed the wall a few times. Evan really liked free climbing the wall by himself. (of course not far up the wall) We each took turns climbing the wall. Evan and Laney did great, but I was truly amazed by Samantha. She climbed up and down the wall like a monkey. She was so sweaty from climbing. Lindsey and Jared climbed a more difficult wall. They both have a good build to be rock climbers. We all had fun and hoped that the kids were worn out. Boy were we wrong.
