Can't wait to go to the pool

It feels like summer will never come. It is so cold today I had to put on a sweater. The kids and I are so excited that we joined the pool this year. It looks like they're getting the pool ready. (just kidding. This is the only picture I could find of the pool.) I can't wait to go to the pool this summer with the kids. I even picked up a few pool toys. I know going to the pool will keep the boys active and entertained all summer long. I will get the added benefit of a nice, all over tan for the first time in years. No more farmer tans for me. After Memorial Day you'll find me sitting pool side with a book. :)

brush holders

I decided to make Megan a makeup brush holder for her birthday. I found a vase that had a M etched in it. Then I filled it with plastic filler beads. I also bought a few brushes for her. I sure hope she likes it. And if she doesn't she can always use the vase for flowers.:) (I also made one for myself.)

Learning to ride a two wheeler

Logan has been coasting around on his bike for a few weeks now. Trek suggests teaching kids how to balance on their bikes first before learning to peddle. So today we put his peddles on and took him to the park. We went to an empty parking lot and got the bikes out. The only thing Logan needed a little coaching on is how to get the bike rolling before putting his feet up on the peddles. Once he got moving forward he took off peddling and I never had to hold on to him. That was it! He had to practice starting and stopping but I never had to hold on to him while he peddled. He already knew how to stay balanced on the bike. After about 20 minutes he was starting, stopping and turning all by himself. AMAZING!!!

I totally forgot to bring my camera. So the next time we go for a ride I will take lots of pictures and post them.

Gorman Heritage Farm

Debbie and I took the four kids to Gorman's farm this weekend. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon. The kids got to dig for turnips in a garden.





We got to go into the goat pin. They boys enjoyed petting the goats and learning about what they eat.






Then we went to see the chicks. All of the kids got to hold a chick. My niece Kylie was the unlucky one who got pooped on.




The most interesting part of our visit was seeing a sheep get sheared. The farmer told us all about the wool and the different ways farmers used to shear the sheep. His father used to use hand shears that looked like big scissors. Now they use electric shears that makes the job much quicker. He also explained that the sheep have lanolin in their wool. The farmer said his wife loves to hold his hand after he has sheared sheep because they are so soft.

No energy

I need an energy boost. I hate knowing there is so much to do but I don't have the energy to do anything. I wish I had my sister's energy level. :) Sometimes I think she has the energizer bunny helping her out.

Easter at the Farm

On Sunday we went to the farm to celebrate Easter. When we arrived the kids noticed that the Easter Bunny had already visited and left lots of eggs and goodies. The kids were quick to get out and start hunting for eggs. The Easter Bunny is starting find more difficult places to hide eggs. Each of the kids had eggs overflowing their baskets.

We always enjoy spending the day at the farm. The kids are getting more adventurous and exploring further out in the farm by themselves. We went for a walk in the woods and walked down along the creek. Of course one of the kids ended up with wet feet. At least this time it wasn't one of my boys. Dad drove the club cadet with the kids. While driving on the path he got too close to some branches and got some thorns stuck in his forehead.

Evan loves to fish. He spent over an hour by himself fishing today. He finally caught a fish. Uncle Lance was there to help him get it off the hook. He was so proud to hold up the fish he caught. Then he gladly through the fish back into the pond. Logan also spent some time alone playing. We watched him using a stick to pry up a piece of wood used as a bench. They both wish they could live at the farm forever. They will definitely sleep well tonight.

Molly

Reuben played ball with Molly while we were at Debbie's house. He misses having a dog. Molly is a beautiful girl. She loves chasing a tennis ball.

Easter at the Felsheim's

Saturday afternoon we went to Mema and Papa's house for an Easter celebration. This year Aunt Jean from the farm was here visiting. It's always nice to see Aunt Jean. She brought us our favorite jelly and baked delicious pies for us to enjoy. The kids hunted for eggs and their Easter baskets in the basement because it had rained. Then we had a wonderful dinner and delicious deserts. It's always nice visiting with family and making memories with the kids.

How to Train Your Dragon

On Saturday we took the boys to see How to Train Your Dragon in 3D. The boys love watching movies with the 3D glasses. The movie was really entertaining. The boys also thought it was really good.

Visit to the Tractor Supply Company

I've been trying to do fun things with the boys to reward them for good behavior. I decided to take Logan to see the baby chicks and ducks at the TSC. He thought they were so cute. He wanted to pick up one of the chicks but they would run to the other side of the container before he could get a hold of one. He asked if we could take one home. I said no way, we were just visiting them. Logan also got to pick out a toy truck to buy. He was so excited to get home and play with his little truck in the dirt.

Evan's Family night at school

Evan's class wrote a song. They all sang the song on stage at the school. Their song was about hiking. They wore backpacks and a hard hat with a light on it. It was so cute to see Evan up on stage signing and doing all the hand motions.
He is wearing a blue shirt and dark blue jeans. He has a red backpack. He is the fourth kid from the right.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2010 Brown County Inn - Nashville, Indiana

In lieu of Dad coming home from Iraq, we thought it would be a good idea to escape away for the weekend with the whole family. We decided Brown County would be the perfect place. Lots of shopping, swimming and hiking. We were able to have four rooms right next to each other, so the kids were able to go from room to room. (I copied this from Lindsey's blog.)

I enjoyed the first day of shopping and then I got sick with strep throat. I got to watch everyone go swimming. It started snowing again the morning we had to head home. It snowed a lot that day. It was a rough ride but we all made it home safely.

The boys really enjoyed hanging out with their cousins and getting to swim in the pool. They asked if we could live in a hotel so we could swim every day. Thanks family for helping us out with the kids while I was sick.
