Now I just need to paint the walls. I will be so glad to get rid of the pale green. What was I thinking when we painted it the first time?

Birthday Celebration
Today we celebrated the January and February Felsheim birthdays. Aaron and Cammy had January birthdays and Evan and Logan have birthdays in February. The boys always enjoy a good party at Mema's house. They love playing with their cousins and there's always great food. For Christmas the boys got Nerf guns. We have had so much fun with them we decided to have a Nerf war during the birthday party. So we had a total of 12 Nerf guns and a couple hundred Nerf darts. We all had loads of fun and no one got injured. (Except Dawn got a welt under her eye.) The boys received Tony Hawk hoodies and jeans from Uncle Aaron and Aunt Dawn. Great Grandma Davis got them each a stuffed animal and candy. And Mema and Papa gave Evan a remote control car for the GeoTrax and Logan got a dragon. We topped off the night with brownies and ice cream sundays. Thanks Felsheims for making the boys birthdays fun and memorable.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
I'm going to brag on myself. Everyone loves my chocolate chip cookies. I use the Nestle Toll House recipe. I know others who use the same recipe but they're never the same as mine. Reuben asked me to make some today. I realized it's been several months since I made some. I actually had to look at the recipe to make sure I had the right amount of ingredients. I don't know what I did differently this time but they didn't turn out quite the same. Of course they were still good but not the same. I told Reuben that I've lost my baking groove. I'm sure I'll make some more for the boy's birthday next month. Hopefully they'll turn out the way I want them to.

First snow day 2010
The boys couldn't wait to get outside and play in the snow today. Evan though it was only a high of 21 degrees with windchill making it feel like it was in the single digits. I'm glad they went out and burned off some energy. We played a lot today and I did a lot of laundry. And of course I had to blog about it. I think I'm addicted.:)
Patio furniture
Last year Reuben worked hard to make our backyard more useable. Now we have a nice deck and beautiful patio. If I won the lottery today the first thing I would buy is a nice patio set. I love to sit outside and read a book while the kids play. That is how I spend my summers. I would love to have a comfortable chair to sit in. I found a couple of patio sets on line but can't seem to download them to the blog.

2010 goals
I've been thinking about setting some goals for this year. We had a lesson on setting goals at church today. I will list some of the questions the teacher asked us to think about.
1. What are the non-essential things that clutter your days and steal your time?
2. Does the time I spend ____ enlarge or restrict my capacity to LIVE, LOVE, and SERVE in meaningful ways?
3. What are the unfinished or un-started things that could add vigor, meaning and joy to your life?
4. What are the habits you may have developed that do NOT serve a useful purpose?
Spiritual goals
1. Attend the temple twice this year. ( For the past 5 years we have only gone once a year. To be realistic I am saying I want to go twice this year. Hopefully we will go more than twice.)
2. Have a Family Home Evening lesson at least once a month.
Other life goals
1. Teach my kids about "work". They are getting to the age to have age appropriate chores.
2. Preparation. I need to be more prepared for many things in my life. I need to especially prepare meals and make sure we have the groceries in the house to do so. Tuesdays are great days for me to go to the grocery store without kids. We can plan our meals on Monday night for the next week.

Clothes, clothes, and more clothes
I went to my mom and dad's house today to work on cleaning out the basement. I brought about 15 bins of childrens clothes up stairs to go through. I kept one bin of clothes that I wanted to keep as keepsakes. I called Stephany W. to come over and pick out clothes she wanted. Then Megan went through the clothes too. Then I itemized the rest to go to the goodwill. It feels so good to get rid of things

Green
I am up way to late tonight fooling around on the computer. I really wanted to figure out how to personalize my blog. I've seen so many really cute headers on different blogs. I went through the customize settings and figured it out. Then I searched the internet for an image that I really like. Everyone that knows me well, knows that my favorite color is green. When I found this marbled green paper I thought it fit perfectly. I'm sure this wont be the last time I change the looks of my blog.
New Year's Eve
Last night we had so much fun. At first I had just planned for Debbie and David to come over for a quiet evening. As the day progressed more people decided to join us. So my sister and her whole family, my mom, and Megan came too. We enjoyed eating Hawaiian haystacks the Debbie made for dinner. We played Balderdash and Cranium. We had so much fun playing games together. The kids played with the Nerf guns and stuffed animals. Logan was the only one who didn't make it till midnight. He crashed on the floor around 10:30. We were so busy talking that we almost missed the ball drop. At four minutes till I said, What time is it?" We quickly brought out the sparkling juice and turned on the TV to watch the ball drop. This is the first year Evan has stayed up till midnight. So we explained to him that when the ball drops we say Happy New Year and cheers and take a drink of juice. Then give your family members a big smooch. I asked Samantha who she wanted to kiss and she pointed right at Even. When the ball dropped, Evan was right by my side. We said Happy New Year and cheers. Then he saw Samantha coming after him for a kiss and he gave me a big hug and kiss.
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year!!!
Christmas Eve at the Felsheim's
I almost didn't make it to the Felsheim's for Christmas Eve. I came down with a stomach virus the day before. I was able to drag myself out of bed and make it over to their house. I stayed away from everyone as much as I could. The kids had a great time. They love going to Mema's house and eating all the goodies. We exchanged gifts before all the extended family arrived. Dawn shared the symbolism of the candy cane with the kids. Once everyone else came we enjoyed dinner and socializing. Then the kids couldn't wait any longer. Santa finally arrived with all the presents. We sang jingle bells and gave Santa a hug. The boys were excited to open their presents. Thanks Santa! Aunt Linda also gave the boys a gift. Her gifts keep on giving. She gave them the Nerf dart guns. The boys continue to enjoy shooting the darts all over my house.
